Erin Sherriff & Simone Liegh
In the dining room, Simone Leigh's glazed yellow bust sits on a white pedestal near the window, back lit by the glow of the large windows. Directly to the left are two black-and-white photographs by Erin Shirreff each of which splices together fragments of sculptural forms. While these two works might carry stark physical contrasts, they conceptually speak to each other. Shirreff's work is about how we experience three-dimensional form once it's been photographed and flattened into image, while Leigh's bust is an actual object with weight, texture, and presence in the room. These two exchange in curated dialogue, letting their contrast carry the space.
